REMIGRATION a film (short) by Barry Jenkins

Was completely blown away by the raw emotion/superior acting in this short that takes a look at what San Francisco could be 20 years into the future.

After the screening last night, hosted by ITVS & KQED, Russell Hornsby’s mom somehow found me and my little “sister circle” cluster through the crowd of tech/film hipsters. She was super-excited and expressed her pride, saying “I came over from Oakland to see this. I am so happy.” I shared her joy - Russell Hornsby is the male lead in the film and through him we experience the tension/tug/pull of loving & hating the city that is San Francisco. Layer that with the real - we rarely get to witness Black men express a complex spectrum of emotion on screen.

Thanks again, Barry for “letting the world in” with your films.
